Gilded Cage Charisma Lip Gloss and Unleashed Lipstick Review + Swatches

Pink is not usually my colour, but I love incorporating pinks into my looks during spring - just like the gorgeous Gilded Cage lipstick photographed above.

Gilded Cage is an Australian brand, designed in Paris and made in Italy. We all know that once you are able to sell in Europe you can sell your make up anywhere, they have the strictest rules and regulations for cosmetics in the world. Not to mention Gilded Cage is also cruelty free.

There are 3 tip top quality products in Gilded Cage's range, Revelation Eyeshadows, Charisma Lipgloss and Unleashed Lipstick. Today we will be focusing on lips!

Charisma Lip Gloss in Aurora - $28

Charisma lip gloss contains the perfect amount of shimmer, the texture is soft and easily spreadable. The gloss contains Kendi Oil to fight dryness and provide added moisture, Charisma Lip Gloss also possess a fairly sweet scent. The texture of the gloss is relatively thick upon application however non-tacky or sticky, as a non-frequent gloss wearer, it took me a while to get use to the texture.

The gloss I use to wear would slip off my lips in 30 minutes and dry out, Charisma Gloss is long lasting because the content really grabs onto your lips. To be honest, I didn't like this gloss to begin with, I felt the texture just wasn't for me but it grew on me. My lips felt soft after an hour of wear (whereas with most other glosses, my lips would feel dry and requires re-application at this point). This gloss will work well alone or on top of literally any lipstick.

You will not be able to wipe Charisma lip gloss away with tissue and it won't come off in water either(this is not a gloss to be messed with), I recommend an oil based cleanser or cleansing oil to wash off the gloss. I found this to be the best and most effective method of removal.

So, I really started to experiment with this gloss, I have been trying to achieve this "wet" look which I have seen on Lisa Eldridge's channel a while back. Since this gloss really grabs onto your skin I thought it might work for lids. Putting gloss on your lids is never a very comfortable thing but as expected it did not melt off, this will definitely be my go to gloss for the wet eye look.

Unleashed Lipstick in Bold Coral - $40

Yesterday was the first day of Spring, lifting my mood instantly. I was so happy I went straight for this Spring perfect lipstick. Gilded Cage lipsticks contain ingredients such as wild mango butter, water lily and orchid extracts to ensure moisturisation. For events or nights out, I'd apply this lipstick for a full colour effect. However, this lipstick looks incredible when dabbed onto the lips for a slightly muted look that still echos "spring-time, this is my go-to technique for working days. As claimed, the formula is super light-weight, long lasting (approximately 5-6 hours when eating dry food) and moisturising.

Bold Coral is completely shimmer and glitter free however, not 100% matte either. As a result, it does not severely accentuate the lines and cracks within my lips.

Gilded Cage lipsticks contain natural collagen boosters for firmer lips with more volume. I didn't actually experience any lip boosting effects, which is good for me as I am not a big fan of lip plumpers or things that awkwardly enlarge the size of my lips. My lips aren't big, they are average sized compared to the size of my head (believe me it's all photography illusions) but I am quite content with the size and shape.. as a result, I tend to stay away from lip plumping products.

The other thing that is worthy of a mention is the gorgeous packaging. It's so slick and sophisticated!

  2. I know exactly what you mean, I'm starting to use my Blushed Nudes eyeshadow palette now that spring has hit, pinks are the perfect shade for spring!
I love how the lipstick looks on you, the shade suits you really well. I'm not too sure about the wet look though, I like how it looks but I hate anything sticky on my eyelids, so for me it would depend how it felt on...

  5. I love the pink colour on you! You should wear pinks on a more regular basis!

Re the wet look, I'm not a fan of it, but that's just me and I'm sure there are others that love it.

  6. I love the lipstick on you! It looks fantastic! I'm on the fence about the wet look (I think it works editorially or if you have a lot of cameras pointed at you); but I can imagine it's a nightmare of a feeling to have it on the eyelids. I love Lisa Eldridge and I know which video you're talking about. :-)

  7. They look stunning on you! I want to try the wet look on my eyes too, but I fear my oily eyelids like moving around product too much.

  8. A lip gloss that actually sticks to the skin? Bring it on! Woo hoo, I'm excited Lily - thank you SO much for reviewing this range, which incidentally sounds exactly like my cup of tea. LOVE the wet look on lips, but on my eyes it just looks greasy, so I'll decline. Your lips look fantastic in both the lipstick and the gloss - yay for Spring! xxx

  9. Oh lovely colours Lily! I am not a fan of the wet look. Is it uncomfortable?
