MEDIK8 R-RETINOATE YOUTH ACTIVATING CREAM INTENSE LAUNCH @ ALPHA RESTAURANT, SYDNEY

I enjoyed an intimate morning with Medik8 @ Alpha Restaurant in celebration of their latest addition to the r-Retinoate range. Medik8 r-Retinoate Youth Activating Cream Intense is a game changing product and a world's first "all in one" night cream.

We were provided with an excellent introduction to r-Retinoate Youth Activating Cream by Medik8's Formulation and Development Director, Daniel Isaacs via a video conference.

Daniel explained the difficulties experienced when combining retinyl retinoate and retinaldehyde, the combination makes r-Retinoate an absolute power-house; there is no other product like this on the market as of yet.

You may be familiar with Medik8 Australia's 2018 launch - r-Retinoate Youth Activating Cream (in a beautiful white bottle), we were advised that r-Retinoate Intense will not be replacing the original product so don't fret!

Comparing r-Retinoate Intense to the original, the new launch is richer in texture and possess the best hydrating ingredients, peptides (that directly target collagen producing cells) as well as vegan squalane. r-Retinoate intense was trialled on 27 people, including those with highly sensitive skin and no irritation was reported.

This product is 8 times stronger than retinol and eleven times faster acting. You are expected to notice a fading reduction in the appearance of fine lines in just 4 weeks.

Active Ingredients:

Polymer-encapsulated Retinyl Retinoate - 8 times more powerful than retinol and stable
Crystal Encapsulated Retinaldehyde - 11 times faster acting than retinol
Smart Hydration Reservoir - Delivers multi level hydration
Vitamin E - Quench free radicals
Ceramide Complex - Nourish the skin
Drone Targeted Copper Peptide - Plump skin
Organic Carrot Seed Oil - Preserves the potency of r-Retinoate Intense

How to Use:

Like every other retinol products, it needs to be phased in. It is recommended to introduce r-Retinoate Intense into your nightly routine twice per week for 2 weeks. Once your skin adjusts to the ingredients, use it every other evening for 2 week. Following this, you can use it every evening. This product is designed for night time use only.

Price:
$389 for 50ml - check website below for stockists or call 1800 242 011

I tried and tested r-Retinoate Intense at the event, I have used Vitamin A previously and cannot escape the awful scent. I was extremely surprised to find a very subtle fruity scent to this powerful night cream. We were advised that r-Retinoate Intense is so powerful that it acts as both your serum and your night cream.

THE BEST MASK TO CALM POST-TREATMENT IRRITATIONS

It find it difficult to review facial masks because I find most masks to do the same thing as its counterparts, just labelled differently. Today, I wanted to specifically talk about Medik8's Ultimate Recovery Bio-Cellulose Zinc Mask because this mask had proven it's worth and I want to tell you why!

Before we get started, let's look at the claims.

- A method to restore and relief the skin without overloading your skin.
- Enriched with hyaluronic acid and zinc

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS:

MY VERDICT

- A couple of weeks ago, I decided to put an organic mud mask on my partner to help clean out his pores. This particular mud mask works wonders for me and had never caused any irritations to my skin. After about 3-4 minutes post application, he told me his face was stinging, I told him it may feel slightly tingling but it should be normal. 6-7 minutes in he said he needs to wash it off because it was burning! After he washed off the mud mask his face was a shade of ripped burning beets.  I fussed about and pulled out Medik8's Ultimate Recovery Bio-Cellulose Zinc Mask, this mask provided him with an instant relief. Within 10 minutes his face was no longer burning and the redness, diminished. I felt that this was the ultimate test, this mask had proved it's worth!

- Fit wise, it was fine for me but it wasn't a perfect fit for my partner. It was a little bit short on the nose for him.. But because the actual mask (which is really thin and gel sheet-like) is sandwiched between two rougher sheets, application is quite easy once you separate the masks between the sheets. The mask won't be falling off your face because it tends to stick on your skin.

- There will be plenty of left over serum inside the package. Don't let them go to waste! I applied it all over my arms, thighs, décolletage, chest and the other excess on my stomach.

- My skin doesn't get quite as inflamed as my partner, but it's had a weird rough patch after I had a pretty heavy duty facial treatment. The skin of my cheek and chin felt exceptionally rough. After I used this mask, my skin was restored and returned to his normal condition in 2 days. I kid you not!!!

HOW TO: Conceal Under Eye Circles ft Medik8

Unfortunately puffy under eye circles runs in the family, I can't escape it! If I don't sleep enough, over sleep, eat too much junk or dehydrated, my eye circles can be more prominent than usual.

I personally hate them, I feel that puffy or dark under eye circles can age a person significantly. So here's a little post going through my 4 simple steps to hide those circles!

STEP ONE: Eye Cream

Eye cream is always the first step. I like to apply an eye cream to clean skin to prep and hydrate the skin as concealer tend to dry out my under eye area.

I have gone past my gel eye cream period as my under eye area love rich eye creams. Medik8 Hydr8 Night Eye* is a fantastic rich and hydrating cream. I personally like to use this for day and night, it's high performing.

STEP TWO: DE-PUFF

I like to use a treatment product as a second step to assist with de-puffing the under eye area. Medik8 Dark Circle* has now been in my stash for about 4 months now. I have read a lot of reviews for this product online and it is a bit of a hit and miss, works miracles for some but not others. Luckily for me, this works quite well in terms of de-puffing. This can be used as a treatment product alone or under concealer/makeup.

STEP THREE: CORRECT

A salmony peach concealer is your key to rid any darkness under your eyes. I've seen a lot of tutorials with red lipsticks, but that's just TOO much for me! I find salmon/peach coloured concealers to work just fine! The salmon shade concealer I own is from Shiseido in No. 6 Honey.

STEP FOUR: CONCEAL

My last and final step is to conceal away that peachiness! I am using a beige concealer that is lighter than my skin tone, applying this over the peachy concealer for an instant brightness. Here I am using a concealer from Bloom's Secret Weapon Concealer Kit.
