- SPRING 2015 -

Spring is a loveable month where the weather is just right for a capped sleeves knit wear. I don't usually categorise colours by seasons and often wear black and greys all year round. Autumn is my preferred season as I am more attracted to warmer colours than cool tones.

My boyfriend has been gifting me coloured clothing for the past few year in attempt to make me wear more colours. Well... it worked. However, I still dress like Rex Hunt at home.

Fashion is not my forte.. I'm actually quite daggy.. but I'm trying! I've been inspired to introduce more fashion to my blog thanks to Lisa @ This Damsel Loves for posting up incredible fashion/lifestyle inspos and Simply_Kenna a Youtuber I recently discovered who possess a sense of style and fashion I can only wish I had.

Here's a look into my spring picks..

A soft aqua top by Review Australia (one of my favourite clothing stores) some gorgeous pink Lady Jayne hair ties alongside a pair of the cutest flats and some playful cherry blossom beaded necklace from a thrift store.

Spring is the perfect time for "fresh" looking make up. I like to keep my lip moist with Carmex, it is perfect for those who prefer sheer lips and Korres lip butter is my go-to lip product for a hint of colour.

In order for me to stop using deep purple eyeshadows I decided to pick out something that's quite the contrary, but also an eyeshadow that I adore, Rich List by Marsk is an amazing gold eyeshadow that can be worn alone or used in conjunction with other eyeshadows to add depth. I'd usually pick mascara over eyeliner during Spring, but I couldn't look past one of the most gorgeous eyeliner by Eye of Hours in Charcoal Obsidian, it's a grey liner with sparkles!!

As for blush... it just had to be Canmake ... it's a no brainer, this blush has spring written all over it.

Two options for nails - OPI's Is Mai Tai?  for colour lovers or Revitanail's Graphite  if you are having trouble parting from darker colours like me.

What are your Spring picks this year?

Japanese Makeup

It's been close to a year since my Japan holiday, I've been meaning to make this post for a very long time! Due to the kawaii and kitsch nature of Japanese make up, I instantly fell in love and brought home a small haul.

Yojiya
Yojiya was founded in 1904, Yojiya is known for it's quality and craftsmanship. As a result, the brand quickly spread across Japan. Their beauty products are designed to enhance natural beauty. Their top selling product is Aburatorigami - blotting paper.

I purchased who products, which I thought were unique and would assist me in my travels.
Face powder paper to the left, there were three shades; clear, natural and pink. I purchased mine in Natural. These are so efficient, each sheet is covered with finely milled powder.  To the right, we have portable soap, there are 20 sheets of dry soap in the packet.

Make sure you check out Yojiya's Cafe if you are ever in Kyoto.

Dolly Wink

One thing I dare say is that Dolly Wink's mascara definitely lives up to it's expectations, easily one of the best waterproof mascaras I've ever used. Can't say the same about the liquid eyeliner to the right. I forgot to include my Dolly Wink highlighter pencil + sharpener, but I'll have a review post up soon :)

Sana - Pore Putty

Pore Putty is one of the makeup line within Japanese beauty giant, Sana. Pore Putty is designed to smooth out pores and rough skin. The two products I purchased goes hand in hand, base and powder! Since I don't read Japanese, I had a lot of trouble picking the right product. I've been using the BB Cream as a primer as coverage is minimal.

Canmake
Canmake founded in 1986. The brand expanded across Asian countries and was endorsed across demographics due to their cute packaging, diverse colour schemes and natural ingredients to suit sensitive skin. The bush is beautiful with great colour pay off, the concealer to the far right is not too bad. The eyeshadow palette is a little disappointing with poor pigmentation (see review here)

Review & Tutorial: Natural Eye Looks with Canmake Perfect Stylist Eyes Palette

Brand/Product Information
Canmake is a Japanese cosmetic brand founded in 1986. The brand expanded across Asian countries and was endorsed across demographics due to their cute packaging, diverse colour schemes and natural ingredients to suit sensitive skin.

This palette contains squalane - a moisturising agent allowing smooth applications and minimising eyeshadow fall outs. There are 6 different palettes (colour variations) in the Perfect Stylist range.

Shade: 02

RRP: 780 yen (approx. $8.50 AUD)

Tutorial

I followed the combinations from the back of the palette to create the following two looks. I think we can all agree that there is really not that much of a difference..

Combination A, B, C, E

Combination A, B, D, E

Verdict

Pros
  • Cute packaging - always a bonus
  • Highly affordable
  • Wearable, natural colours. Perfect for day wear
  • As mentioned in product information, there were no fall outs! I'm amazed!
  • I love the "how to use" instructions on the back of the palette
  • Long lasting and doesn't crease

Cons
  • The pigmentation could be improved, I had to double swatch everything to ensure the product's visibility on camera.. probably not the best palette to use if you want a picture perfect look.
  • Difficult to find in Australia! I've never seen this around Sydney.

Repurchase?

Maybe, I did get turned off by it's lack of pigmentation. However, it's a great travel palette, I like to wear minimal makeup when I'm on holidays, so this is perfect.

Have you tried Canmake products? What are your thoughts on Japanese cosmetics?
