LAZY GIRL'S TWO STEP AUTUMN SKINCARE

Autumn is the perfect weather for being lazy and a natural glow. Winter is often too close and my skin gets too dry to enable a natural glow, whereas summer is too hot causing my pores to ooze out oil and shine. Everything ends up looking sweaty. This in between weather is perfect. I have been super lazy, especially on late nights, so I often opt for this two step routine.

STEP 1  - SCOUT DAILY REVITALISE CLEANSING CREME

I don't tend to wear a lot of make up during the weekend. If I do it's quite minimal. However the first thing I do when I get up on a Saturday or Sunday is cleanse my face. I have been using Scout Cosmetics Daily Revitalise Cleansing Crème. I have not been a big fan of cleansing cream until I started using it with a cleansing device. Now I love it. I dispense 3 pumps of this cleansing cream onto my dampened cleansing device and gently cleanse/massage my face to rid overnight skincare and gunk. This cleanser is very gentle with subtle scents.

STEP 2 - SCOUT SIX OILS OF REJUVINATION

Following a good cleanse, I normally put on some eye cream and seal the deal with an oil if I am not heading out. I have been using Scout Six Oils of Rejuvenation in the morning (Avocado, Carrot Seed, Sunflower, Evening Primrose, Sweet Almond, Rosehip and Jojoba Seed oils). My skin can be quite dry and dehydrated so this is perfect. At night, I drop about 5 droplets of oil on my palm to apply to my entire face and neck, I go easy in the morning with 3-4 drops. I like to dry the oil between my palms and press the product into my skin. It gives me a really beautiful natural glow and does wonders for my skin. Look how good it's been below! And the scent can takes a bit of getting use to, but I think it's very relaxing and herbal. Similar to what my yoga instructor spritz in the air at the end of class!

Bare skin with Scout's oil only!

Green Beauty: Two Under Rated Serums You Need in Your Collection!

The recent boom in green beauty means there are more options for guys and gals with sensitive skin or those who prefer clean and green beauty products. The owner of Scout Cosmetics, Sylvie Hutchings started her Certified Organic superfood range with the aim to provide quality products for women using organic ingredients without any compromises.

I have been trialling Scout Cosmetics for a few months now, from skincare to makeup. Some products worked for me, some didn't. Today I want to highlight two extremely under rated products that worked for me and worked particularly well.

I thought deep and hard about this, instead of copying and pasting points from the Media Release or Scout's website; I won't bore you with scientific jargons, mainly because I don't understand them and I am not an expert, you can hop onto Scout Cosmetic's website to have a read. I realised that the only thing I can share with you that is of my own is my experience.

HOW I USED THE PRODUCTS:

Here's the low down, I have been using Scout Cosmetic's Vitamin C Brightening Serum by dotting the product on my nose and across the cheeks. Why? It's my dull area, brightening products are known to improve tone and texture. I have a lot of pores to the inner of my cheeks and some forming on my nose. The area is rough and needs some TLC. Scout Cosmetic's Cell Renewal Peptide Serum is then applied to my forehead, chin and around my mouth because those areas are showing my age with very fine lines. The Vitamin C serum is a little bit more creamy and slightly thicker in texture than the peptide serum.

Let me tell you, I have used a fair amount of green/organic serums and a lot of them are oils or tend to sit on the surface of my skin and does not sink in. I just don't feel that there's an adequate range of organic serums out there that is not an oil.

HOW THE SERUMS PERFORMED
  • Easy to blend in
  • Extremely fast absorbing and it will not sit on the top layer of your skin, nor will it effect your moisturiser OR foundation.
  • Great for sensitive skin
  • Pleasant scents
  • Most importantly, my forehead looks plump and the rest of my face looks more refreshed and awake, even at 5:45AM in the morning and I am dead tired. At least my skin looks good.

Scout Cosmetics Summer Skincare and Makeup

I have been working with Scout Cosmetics for a few months now. Today I've decided to give you an overview of some of their selected skincare and makeup products.

I'd use a cleanser most days and evenings. Whether it's the end of the day or the start of the day, I want to ensure my canvas is clean. When using in the evening, I would start off by removing my makeup with a makeup wipe followed by a cleanse using Scout Cosmetics Super Fruit Exfoliating Wash Off Cleanser. I automatically associate the word "exfoliating" with exfoliating grit which can be quite abrasive on my skin. I was pleasantly surprised to find the cleanser without a trace of grit and it was able to cleanse my face quite nicely (paired with Foreo's cleansing device). The scent is very fruity with a strong acai smell.

Following the cleanse I would apply 3 drops of Scout Cosmetics Vitamin C Brightening Serum this product is absolutely beautiful, comes in a little cute droplet bottle. The serum absorbs into your skin with ease following application. Scent wise, it's a subtle smell between floral and fruity. I really like this product.

Scout Cosmetics Balance and Replenish Light Moisturiser is applied as soon as the Vitamin C is absorbed into the skin. Whilst this is not a heavy moisturiser, I found it to sit on top of my skin longer than other moisturisers I have used. I feel that a full pump is too much for the face but enough for your face, neck and décolletage. I am not a big fan of the scent.... I think it might be the pumpkin properties? To be honest, while I don't mind this moisturiser, I don't particularly prefer it. However I will continue to use it and see if I can get used to the scent.

During the Christmas period, I have been using 3 simple steps from Scout Cosmetics makeup line. I use Scout Cosmetics Liquid Eyeliner for a kitten flick, I liked the formula of this eyeliner, however I found the brush rather difficult to use and had some trouble drawing a straight liner on my lids. I found the best way to use this product is to draw three dots on my lids (close to my lash line) and blending it in with a flat and dense eye shadow brush to create a slightly smoky kitten flick look. The formula is non-irritating and does not smudge. I hope that Scout Cosmetics will change the brush to allow a better application as the formula is fantastic.

I would then use Scout Cosmetics Lipstick in 07 for both cheeks and lips, I have been watching a lot of YouTube Videos lately and started to match my cheeks to my lip colour. I adore Scout's lipsticks, they are super duper moisturising and not as bold or intimidating as it looks in the bullet.

Finishing off with Scout's Nail Polish in Don't Loose My Number, it's a beautiful Christmas/New Year Red. I received quite a few compliments while wearing this shade. Two coats proved to provide adequate coverage, the nail polish would last for approximately 3 days on me before any chips are noted.

Sun-kissed Summer Look using Scout Cosmetics

I have had a crazy month and a half house sitting my parent's place, hence a lack of blog posts and content. We don't get roaches in our apartment so it was a whirlwind of chasing after roaches at my parent's house and trying to bond with my dad's love bird. Through thick and thin, lil birdy finally bonded with me after 2 blow drying sessions (he likes to be pampered). Now, I can't wait to get some sun and smack on my bronzer. I was sent some beautiful Scout Cosmetics products in order to re-create my own sunkissed look. It took about 5 minutes, super easy!

Scout Cosmetics is a beautiful Australian mineral makeup and organic skincare brand. I would classify Scout Cosmetics under my "Green Beauty" category.

BRONZER

For an all round sun-kissed glow I used Scout Cosmetics Bronzer "Summer"- $39.95.
This particular bronzer is smooth to apply and comes in a standard mineral container. I used Scout Cosmetics Vegan Blush Brush - $24.95 to sweep the bronzer across my cheeks, nose and sides of my forehead. With my fingers, I also used the bronzer as an eye shadow, it worked surprisingly well mainly because there is a fair amount of sheen in the bronzer. When applied onto the cheeks it will give you colour and glow! My only suggestion is to use a primer under your foundation before applying the bronzer, especially if you have enlarged pores like me where mineral products tend to get caught in the pores and end up accentuating your pores.

LIPS

I was sent Scout Cosmetics Organic Lipstick - $26.95; the shade is "Captivate" when I first saw the colour in the bullet I was extremely hesitant to even swatch it because the shade appeared very bright and vibrant, not a shade I usually wear or can even pull off. But I took a leap of fate and decided to give it a go, I was pleasantly surprised by this gorgeous metallic shade. The colour is no where near as intimidating as I expected. The lipstick was actually quite sheer and extremely nourishing.

NAILS

The finishing touch is nails, a glittery coat of gold on my nails, I am using Scout Cosmetics Eco Luxe Nail Polish in Truly Madly Deeply - $19.95. There are 35 shades. This is a special nail polish because it's free from potential allergens, carcinogens and irritants that is often found in traditional nail polish:
 - Toluene
 - Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP)
 - Camphor
 - Formaldehyde
 - Formaldehyde Resin

Below, I have swatches (an unedited photo) of the lipstick and bronzer to give you an idea of what the actual colour looks like.

Scout Cosmetics Illuminate Review + Swatches and Video Demo

My skin can get pretty dry and flaky, so I have always craved a healthy glow on my face, to the point I look at people with oily skin and think "WOW, I want that", I am sure that dry skinned beauties would understand this. We always want what we can't have huh?

Highlighting and conturing has been a trend in the forefront of beauty for the past year, this is something that my past self would have loved - changing your face shape using makeup, WUT!

To be honest, I only started highlighting recently and I can't stop! I use a subtle highlighter on a daily basis and for events, I have been using Scout Cosmetics Illuminate.

If you are not familiar with Scout Cosmetics, I will copy and past their philosophy from their site below:

The SCOUT philosophy is very simple, every SCOUT product must have three attributes:
  • It must be made in Australia from only the highly quality certified organic and natural ingredients;
  • It must be formulated by experts and manufactured to exacting Australian and international standards; and
  • Most of all, it must be effective in looking after your skin, enhancing your natural beauty and be a delight to use.
How good does that sound?

MY VERDICT

  • I have been pretty obsessed with Scout's Illuminate lately, it produce the most amazing glow (the million dollar effect, not the disco ball effect).
  • Alongside highlighting, I have been using Illuminate as an eyeshadow too, the shade reminds me of Stila's eyeshadow in "Kitten" which has been my favourite for a long time! But uh... without all the nasties.
  • The actual colour of the highlighter is a nude-ish shade, I feel that it works beautifully on olive skin - if you have lighter skin tone, I would highly recommend you to layer the Illuminate on top of your blush or bronzer.
  • The highlighter lasts for up to 3-4 hours, it does fade a little over time - however, keep in mind that I do rub my face subconsciously. The product itself is finely milled so it does not look grainy on your face, it literally just looks like a really beautiful glow (just check the photo below #highlighteronfleek). For those who might be a little bit clumsy when it comes to mineral makeup, so make sure you always close the twist-lock sifter. The other brilliant thing about Illuminate is the ingredients, I can count all the ingredients (even with all the different codes) on two hands.
  • You can watch the product demo below, my camera lets in a lot of light so I look more washed out than usual (Sorry guys, still trying to find a good spot to film!), however the photo is pretty damn accurate of what Illuminate looks like on my skin.
Scout Cosmetics Illuminate is available for $39.95 from https://www.scoutcosmetics.com/
