Sisley Les Phyto Ombres Single Eyeshadow Review and Swatches

I jumped up and down when I saw these new eyeshadows from Sisley. I have one of their quads and it's so precious that I pretty much only use it for "special occasions" or when I want my eyeshadow to last all night long. There are 20 luminous shades to this new range with 5 types of finishes; matte, silky, metallic, glow and sparkling to create a 3D effect on your lids. The texture is unique, it's half-powder, half-cream hybrid texture - meaning smooth, creamy and glides on your lids. I adore the Sisley products that I have, they are known for being high quality, well researched and luxurious.

These little beauties are tolerance tested under ophthalmological and dermatological control, they are perfect for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.

RRP $65AUD

Sparkling Topaze - my fav shade!

MY VERDICT

  •  Texture: Silk smooth, a cream to powder texture where you are able to pick up a good amount of product with a pretty light touch. I recommend using your fingers or a sponge tip for application over a dense brush - a fluffy brush would also work well. The product itself literally glides with ease. Absolutely no fall outs when I use my finger. It's crazy!
  •  Pigmentation: What you see is what you get with Sisley eyeshadows. Although I noticed the blue seems to have more of an iridescent blue shimmer and a darker base. It's absolutely beautiful. I have always been impressed with Sisley's pigmentation and quality.
  •  Wear Time/will it crease?: Wear time depends on the eyeshadow itself, I find that lighter shadows holds better. I noticed fading after approximately 4-5 hours (I did take a nap with sparkling topaze - in fact, I took TWO naps and possibly rubbed some of my pillow. While the sparkling did disappear, pigmentation was still there and it did NOT crease). The only shadow where I noticed minor creasing was Mat Cocoa, as darker shades are more prone to crease - as well as my oily lids. Despite all, Sisley's shadows are definitely longer wearing and higher quality than a lot of my other shadows. I usually use Sisley for special occasions or events! It is precious!!

SISLEY PARIS BLUR EXPERT WITH BEFORE AND AFTER PHOTOS

Photo taken in natural light, away from sunlight

Get excited ladies and gents. Sisley Paris launched the ultimate Insta-filter in a compact powder. Blur Expert was sold out on Sisley's website in less than one week after it's launch. LA Makeup Artist, Jillian Dempsey works with celebrities such as Jennifer Lawrence, Emilia Clarke and Kristen Stewart provided her testimony, "I'm obsessed. Blur Expert creates a very even look on my face overall without all of the heavy coverage". Emma stone wore the innovative powder for her 80s look at the Met Gala 2019.

Photo taken in sunlight

STATE OF THE ART INGREDIENTS

  • New generation coated mica to allow 360 light dispersion. It's super smooth surface leaves the skin wrapped in a subtle, perfectly even veil
  • High-tech smoothing powder formed of resin and gum to provide a soft-focus effect
  • Spherical polymers reflect light in all directions so your skin looks silky smooth
  • Emollient agent to ensure an optimum hold so your Blur Expert is long wearing
  • Ultra-pure Hydrophilic Pigments to even out the complexion and stabilise it's colour for the perfect coverage
WHAT TO EXPECT

As transparent and lightweight as a veil, as smoothing and perfecting as a blurring product, Blur Expert's incredibly fine texture melts into the skin.

One single shade that is suitable for all skin tones.

MY VERDICT

The first time I swatched Blur Expert was for the photo above. The texture was velvety smooth and almost creamy, the powder is EXTREMELY finely milled - much more so than Hourglass (which is my most finely milled powder). I did not notice any fall out after the swatch which is unusual for a facial powder!

The swatch above took about 3 dips, The first time I went in for a swatch the powder was fairly translucent, the second layer produced small amounts of colour, the third layer produced the colour in the photo below.

In terms of application, I used a powder brush with some level of density (An overly soft, fluffy brush may not be able to provide you with the most optimal result). I dipped the brush into the pan and gave it a little twist to pick up the product. Very fine and minimal fall out noticed.

I applied the powder all over my face and I was shocked....why? Because I rarely find these blurring products to work as well as they claim to. The application took about 15 sections, I applied the Blur Expert over my concealer and foundation and my face had that instant soft focus effect, my pores were minimised (not gone but minimised by at least folds), my uneven skintone evened out. My skin looked fantastic. This is not a product that will act as a concealer, it will not fix discolouration, scarring etc - so use your base products. I have taken some before and after photos and zoomed in... these were very confronting photos!!! My skin hasn't been the best for the past month - mainly due to stress. I've had lots of break outs and my texture is worse than ever but I am surprised by how well Blur Expert worked on me, you can actually see the soft focus/blurring effect on camera!!!

The photos were taken in natural light with absolute no editing or filters of any sort.

The bottom line? This works, It's going in my HG stash. I know it will cost you a pretty penny but I would not hesitate to replace Blur Expert after I run out.

IS THIS LUXURY LIPSTICK YOUR NEXT HOLY GRAIL?

We have been doing quite a bit of traveling in the past few years. This year we went around the former Yugoslavia and had the most educational and invigorating experience. As soon as we got back, I started to write down a list of countries and cities I want to visit, excited about my next trip! This brings me to Sisley Paris' new Le Phyto Rouge release, their shades are linked beautiful cities around the world.

ABOUT SISLEY PARIS LE PHYTO ROUGE HYDRATING LONG LASTING LIPSTICK
  • Full coverage, long wearing lipstick
  • Hydrates, protects and soften lips all day long
  • Glide on formula that will not bleed
  • Gold magnetic casing
  • Active ingredients includes Calendula (softens), Vitamin E (Anti oxidant, Anti free radicals), Vitamin C (anti oxidant)
  • 23 shades with different finish such as pearly, satin and iridescent
RRP $65

MY VERDICT

  • Shades: 21 Rose Noumea (a dusty rose, an everyday shade for me) and 43 Rouge Capri (More of a brick red, this would be my go to shade for events!). I went to Noumea a couple of years ago and thrilled that I was matched with this beautiful city. Capri is on my list! We were planning to head off to Italy this year but found it impossible to budget for it now that we are moving into a 2 bedroom. Both shades are needless to say, stunning.
  • The Case: I adore the gold zebra stripe casing, the fact that it's magnetic makes it easy to ensure the lipstick won't be twisting out if it's tube. The casing is quite heavy compared to my other lipsticks. It provides a very luxury feel to it. The lipstick also comes with a velvet red, this is great to make sure your case won't suffer any scratches.
  • The Texture: It's velvet soft, extremely light weight, creamy and glides on with absolute ease. My lips felt soft and did not feel like I was wearing product on my lips. The lipstick did not tug at my lips.
  • Finish: Matte finish (I think there is a tiny bit of pearlescent in Noumea)
  • How long did it last? I wore it to a few lunches. If I am not eating or drinking the lipstick seems to last until removed. Once I started eating I noticed the lipstick to fade very slightly, however still very visible... until I subconsciously start to wipe my lips with a tissue and notice the amount of product that came off. Overall, really good lasting power!
  • Hydration? The lipstick itself is quite hydrating once applied, it did however feel slightly drying after a couple of hours of wear if I do not prime my lips with a balm. If your lips are naturally dry and prone to chapping, apply a generous layer of lip balm.
  • Did it bleed? Rouge Capri is a fairly vibrant shade and I did not notice any bleeding. Mum tried it and did not notice any bleeding either. Note this was the result with both no lip balm and lip balm applied. We were very pleased with this.
  • Other Recommendations:
    • I don't tend to use a lip liner, however if you are looking for very defined lips or if you are looking to make your lips slightly bigger by drawing outside your natural lip lines, I would recommend you to use a lip liner.
    • The lipstick itself is very creamy and silky in texture, so use a semi light hand when you swatch it. Don't let this factor stray you because I assure you that this does not happen when you apply it on your lips. Lip application is flawless.

This lipstick screams luxury, from packaging to the shape of the lipstick bullet. If you are looking for a feathery light lipstick that is pigmented and true to colour, this might be your pick.

Introducing Sisley Paris Velvet Nourishing Cream + Sisleya L'Integral Anti Age Firming Concentrated Serum

A while back, I attended Sisley Paris' launch of Sisleya L'Integral Anti Age Firming Concentrated Serum and Anti-Age Velvet Nourishing Cream with Saffron Flowers. Both products will launch in November 2019 - just a couple of sleeps away until you will be able to try these luxurious products for yourself!

The launch was one of the most educational and remarkable launches I have been to, to date. Before I even think about trying new products I want to know what is different about a product when compared to the wider market, this will determine my interest to initiate the trial. When a product is like 10 other creams I have at home, I tend to put it away for later. But when a product incorporates Epigenetics, I am interested!

Sisley Paris invited UNSW genetics professor Dr Youngsen to talk to us about Epigenetics - a term I have never heard of before. I studied two terms of genetics back at university and had a fair understanding of DNA structure etc. It makes sense that the lifestyle and behavioural choices we make (i.e., diet, sleep, exercise, self care etc) can impact our DNA and affect not only our health/wellbeing/disposition but those of our children, children's children and so forth.

This incredible range from Sisley Paris is formulated to re-work and re-activate cells that had suffered from our poor lifestyle choices. This is a game changer! Keep reading for a little introduction.

SISLEYA L'INTEGRAL ANTI-AGE FIRMING CONCENTRATED SERUM
  • This is a highly concentrated serum that will make your skin is visibly firmer and plumper after 2 months of use.
  • Firmness will be restored with Phyto-complex Pro-Firm 7, a unique plant based extract.
  • Your skin will be boosted with Sweet Marjoram extract, an active ingredient to boost skin's firming potential.
  • The product is extremely hydrating, light weight with silky texture and absorbs extremely well. Instant plumping was noted on my dry dehydrated hands following use. However you will need continuous use for the best, long term results.
SISLEY PARIS VELVET NOURISHING CREAM WITH SAFFRON FLOWERS

  • This is a dual purpose nourishing day and night face cream that can be used after the serum; it works to protect the skin during the day and restore your skin at night time.
  • The cream will help to allow your skin to become more resistant; during the day active ingredients such as Buckwheat seed extract helps to protect the skin and during the evening, shea butter will assist with repair.
  • Saffron flower extract will optimise and sooth dry/coarse skin. Get ready for your ultimate smooth and plump complexion!
  • A trio of oils that is rich in omega 6,7 and 9 will nourish and hydrate your skin intensively. However, rest assured, the product is not oily nor heavy.
  • The cream possess a velvet texture as per most Sisley Paris skincare products. This particular cream will give you a full sensory experience with notes of honey and orange blossom.

Everything You Need to Know About Sisley Paris Hair Rituel Revatilising Fortifying Serum

Another year, another innovation launched by the prestigious French brand that is internationally recognised - Sisley Paris. The range takes a "global" approach to hair care looking after your scalp and hair fibre for both men and women. There are 6 phenomenal products in this range to create a sensorial experience during your hair care routine.

WHY SCALP TREATMENT?

The scalp is often neglected post-wash with oils applied to the ends of our hair only. Beneath the scalp, the hair is born and grows from the hair bulb which is a living part of the hair that is invisible to the naked eye. Small blood vessels provide nutrients to the bulb for hair growth, protection, shine and suppleness. The way we nourish our scalp and hair follicles can potentially impact the condition of our hair. I personally found it interesting that we are constantly feeding nourishment to the shaft of our hair that does not have any biochemical activity - in a harsher term, the dead ends of our hair. The treatment applied to shaft of your hair is to condition against harsh environmental aggressors. In conclusion, there needs to be an equal focus to treated your follicles and the ends of your hair.

WHAT ARE THE KEY ACTIVE INGREDIENTS OF HAIR RITUEL REVATILISING FORTIFYING SERUM?
  • Vitalising-fortifying complex (Zinc, copper, magnesium, vitamin B6, Pro-vitamin B5, Vitamin E derivative) and Arginine (one of the twenty main natural amino acids that make up proteins, particularly keratin) to promote hair vitality.
  • Rice proteins and a Vitamin Peptide (derived from the combination of a peptide made up of 3 amino acids and Vitamin H, known for its action in treating hair loss) to densify hair fibre.
  • An extract of Linseed and Einkorn wheat to protect the hair's natural colour
  • Soothing Alpha-Bisabolol of natural origin
  • An extract of Sage

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF HAIR RITUEL REVATILISING FORITYING SERUM?
  • Creating stronger and denser hair
  • Contributing to healthier and stronger, shinier hair
  • Relieves scalp discomfort
  • Energises the hair bulb to help keep your hair anchored making it more resistant and protecting your hair's natural colour.
  • Fresh fragrance to complement the effectiveness of the key ingredients

SO HOW DO I USE IT?

Part you hair and use the drop dispenser and apply the droplets directly onto dry or damp scalp. Focus on any areas of hair loss. Massage the oil with your finger tips and use this treatment as an intensive treatment every 2 days for a month, then twice a week for 2 months for maintenance. Do not make contact with your eyes.

MY 2CENTS

This serum has been split between two households as my mum is a lover of all things Sisley. Since my hair is quite healthy already and I was blessed in the womb with thick glossy jet black hair. I have been relatively conservative in using this serum.. my partner on the other hand wants to bathe his head in the serum.

There's a bit of a scab on my head and it kept falling off and re-scabbing I can't see it but I can always feel it and it gets itchy. Since using the scalp serum, the scabby patch actually started to heal and the itchiness had stopped. Also wanted to mention that I like to use the serum after I wash my hair.

I've also started to use the serum on my partner who have terrible scalp issues and reported to experience hair loss. I will report back to you guys!

LET'S TALK PRICE

$240 for a bottle of 60ml, let's be honest here - it's not cheap. Sisley Paris as a brand that is established by it's glowing reputation. They do not splurge on celebrity endorsement and put their money into research and science. Personally speaking, there are several luxe brands I will never purchase (especially skincare, I am more open to makeup though) because new products are pumped out with celebrity endorsement. If you are in two minds about purchasing a luxury scalp oil this is something for you to consider. If you are on a budget but looking for an annual or biannual splurge and wanted to try one product from this range - I recommend this scalp serum. If you are happy with what are you are using at the moment and prefer budget items than you can give this product a miss, just make sure you are looking after your scalp!
