Lord of the Fries Review - Sydney

The infamous Lord of the Fries finally opened their Sydney branch. I've been seeing crowds of people lining up to get a taste of Sydney LOTF.

Picture from LOTF's Facebook Page

LOTF is a unique fast food join. 100% vegan, 100% halal 100% kosher and no trans fat

After hearing many positive reviews regarding their Melbourne store, I decided to line up and have a go!

Service

The store itself is tiny, with no seats or tables and hardly any where to stand. We went on a late Friday afternoon and it was somewhat crowded. The girl at the register was friendly and efficient. After my order was processed, we stood aside in a little crowded space that seems to be a little bigger than a cubicle to wait for our order.

The speed was shocking. We were crammed like sardines as my partner and I watched a staff member struggle to cut through the sticky tape on a box, it took her 15 minutes. While everyone was waiting impatiently for the food to arrive, the staff were too damn slow and chill. I spotted one staff in the back playing with their phone. There were about 3 small orders ahead of me and we waited for 20 mins to receive our order.   T.o.o  s.l.o.w.

The Food

First up below is the Nuggets Munch Box - $5.95  with Parisian Sauce (Aoli garlic mayo)- $1

The nuggets were good mock nuggets, nice flavour. The chips were a bit meh, it wasn't crunchy, nor golden - a real shame since we're at LORD of the FRIES. The sauce was OK... it was very thick though... also $1 for sauce is highway robbery.

My partner got the LOFT Original Burger (LOFT -beef- patty, cheese, pickles onion, lettuce, belgian mayo, mustard and ketchup.) - $7.95

You can either get a normal burger or a mini burger. Mini is TINY, it's smaller than your standard scone.

For $7.95, I really wasn't impressed by the size of the burger. It looked like a badly made burger from a stingy joint that just ran out of ingredients. LOTF, time to re-train your burger makers. The burger itself wasn't too bad, but it wasn't amazing either. It was just "ok". I can still taste the mock meat. My partner said it didn't taste as good as the one he had in Melbourne and it was much smaller.

I got the Parma Burger (Chick 'n' patty, bacon, napoli sauce, cheese and onion) - $7.95

Oh how I regret getting this burger. It tasted like absolute crap, I can make a better mock burger than this.

The mock bacon was either under cooked or not cooked at all. It was raw pink and didn't taste right.
The chick'n'patty is your standard veggie patty.
Not enough napoli sauce.... and there were no onions on my burger. The over taste was bland.

Overall, I was disappointed with my visit.

The staff at LOTF DEFINITELY requires more training. The food is NOT up to scratch

However, I'll give LOTF the benefit of doubt and come back in a few months to see if they've improved before I decide to cross it off my list.

  1. My cousin asked me to go check this place out with her. Too bad the staff aren't up to scratch yet. I think I'll wait a couple of months for them to be trained and for the crowd to die down first :P

  2. Aww, so much so for the title of the store which sounded so promising. That's a pity, hopefully they will pick up their standards. If I am visiting Sydney, I will definitely go check them out, because it reminds me of LOTR haha

In Singapore, we have something called EwF (Everything With Fries), and they serve great fries! ^_^

  3. I have never heard of the store and can honestly say that all that food looks like crap! Nothing like bad service to top it off too! Good luck for your next attempt :)

  4. I can't believe people are lining up for that, it all looks pretty ordinary!

I love big fat golden crispy chips with salt and brown vinegar, served in paper!! Don't get much of that anymore.
