Cafe Review: Short Black Panther - Mortdale

This is a hidden gem within the St George district. Forget Surry Hills and Glebe, it's time to travel down south for a taste in the suburbia. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and menus hidden within Golden Books. Local or not, this place is worth the travel.

Jaffa Milkshake $6

For all the Jaffa lovers out there, a delightful choc-orange after taste. The consistency of the milkshake was perfect, not too thick, not too runny.

Salted Caramel Milkshake $6

A perfect balance between sweet and savoury. I'm a big fan of Salted Caramel Ice Cream, this was wonderland in my mouth!

Sambo $12

Bacon, fried egg, cheddar cheese and homemade aioli

Who would've thought bacon cheese and egg would leave me lingering. The secret is in their homemade aioli, I'm a sucker for garlic!

Peruvian Sandwich $12

Egg, roasted pumpkin and rocquette with pesto and home made chunky capsicum aioli.

Boyfriend ordered this. He was too indulged in his meal to chat or make eye contact... so it must've been good!

We topped off our breakfast with a pot of Chai, it was nice and frothy, not too bad... but due to personal preferences, I like my Chai spicy and strong.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast and will definitely be popping down for more!

What's your favourite milkshake?

  2. Love the look of the menus! I tried a salted caramel thick shake at Mickey's in Paddington recently, and wasn't sold - it was a little too sweet for me, and that's saying something!
