Empties: September 2015

Lately, I've been looking through #projectpan on Instagram on a regular basis, there's nothing more satisfying than finished beauty products to make room for new ones.

As a turtle, I only managed to finish a small handful of products in the past couple of months.

Elucent Whitening Spot Corrector
I have a lot of freckles, they all tend to live on my nose and I hate it! Unfortunately most spot treatments are not effective on my skin due to the amount of time I spend in the sun. New freckles would have popped up before any could fade. Nonetheless, I loved this corrector as a serum, it hydrated my skin and provided a nice glow.
Repurchase? Already have another one!

John Plunkett Multi Vitamin Moisturiser
This is a heavy moisturiser that my skin loved during the winter months. It applies like a balm with light scents. A great winter moisturiser
Repurchase? Possibly after I finish a few of my other moisturisers!

Mary Kay Makeup Remover
This makeup remover was excellent, comparable to my Lancome and Shiseido removers. It took off my stubborn water resistant mascaras with ease. Also recommended for sensitive eyes/skin.
Repurchase? Yes definitely!

Murad Energizing Pomegranate Cleanser
This was a product I received from Megsmakeup back when her website had product redemption system. Otherwise I would not have a clue where to get Murad from Australia. This is a foam cleanser which I naturally disliked as I usually prefer cream or gel cleansers. Half way through the product, I started utilising my Shiseido Cleansing brush and it worked wonders. Foam cleanser + Cleansing Brush = Good outcome.
Repurchase? Probably not since I don't know where to find Murad in Sydney

Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Sensitive
This was a sample from a previous Lust Have It Box, I've seen some rave reviews about this product but I wasn't really sure what it did for my skin...? There was a slight stinging/minor burning sensation once the product was applied. My sun spots were still there, but my skin did feel smooth after I washed the content off my face.
Repurchase? I dont't think so, I didn't feel that the product was very effective on my skin

Aveda Purifying Gel Cleanser
So far, all Aveda products/samples I've tried had left a positive impression. This is a really gentle cleanser that left my face squeaky clean. I also love going to Aveda to get my hair checked under the microscope. Customer service is top notch!

Repurchase? I would definitely like to once I finish a few other cleansers!

I won't go into too much detail about the Clear Shampoo it didn't do anything out of the ordinary and cleaned my hair fine.

Here's a few samples I polished off, just wanted to quickly talk about the Rachel K's CC cream samples that I received from a previous LHI box, the shade is in Neutral and it was way too light, I had to use a darker tinted moisturiser or foundation on top to balance out the colour. However, it did cover most of my pores and blemishes, I still required concealer for more prominent blemishes.

A few really old items that needs to be thrown out, with the exception for Coral Colours brow pencil, it just didn't work for me. Too creamy for a brow pencil and not creamy enough as an eyeliner...

  3. I've only just started throwing old makeup items away. I'm trying to work on things that I'm not keen on. It's hard not to finish something, but life's too short to use things that I don't really care to!

  6. I think you've finished a decent amount of products in a month! I can never finish more than 2 products as I just keep opening new products and using them! I've tried a sample of the Mary Kay makeup remover and I love it too!

  8. Great job! It must feel really good to make a little room for new stuff or just let the rest in your collection have room to breathe a little more. :)

  9. I had a full size of that Juice beauty product and it didn't do anything.. kind of weird since it's so raved about.

Such satisfaction in finishing up products. My box of empties is filling up faster than I thought, I better get to posting about them before it gets to be too much! xo

  10. What a great effort!! I'm impressed you have September Empties up early - mine are always a bit late. I am also impressed at throwing out lipsticks. You're clearly not a hoarder like I am, I always think I'll use a lipstick at some point and never end up throwing it away. I might have to try.

  11. That's not a small amount - I think you did pretty well! I've been trying to use as many products as possible this year so I know too well how difficult it can be...

  12. Your empties are so much more interesting than my recent empties! I've been trying to finish off my half used shampoos that I've put aside when I've finished the matching conditioner. Why can I never finish a matching shampoo and conditioner at the same time?

  13. The Aveda purifying gel cleanser sounds lovely! Well done, you've finished up a lot and you threw out two lippies. I don't think I've ever been able to throw out a non-finished lippie. Props!

  19. Congrats hon - I'm promised myself to do this little exercise starting in October, I have no idea how many items I go through in a month, but I doubt it's this many lol! Very happy to read about the Elucent whitening product - I was thinking of buying it (I have LOTS of freckles) but I might look for something more potent. I'm using their day and nght cream, and while I've noticed a minor lightening effect, I was hoping for more. Guess us frecklies will have to live with our spots xxx

  20. I haven't used very many of these products. It is so sad when you have to throw something away like the eye liner because it doesn't work for you.
