Empties: December 2013

It's so therapeutic throwing finished products in my empties basket.

Maybelline BB Cream - This worked well for me. It had great coverage and didn't feel heavy. My dry skin was able to comprehend this during warmer the weather. It did great with blemishes but didn't cover my pores too well.

Revlon Age Defying Spa Foundation (Medium) - I gained a nice tan lately but medium was still a bit dark. Light weight and light coverage. A VERY obscure scent, smells like heavy duty chemicals. I definitely won't be purchasing.

Tea Tree Body Lotions - A part from scent and texture, I can't really tell the difference between what is considered to be "good" or "bad" lotions. I thought they weren't too bad.

Lonvitalite Red Wine Collagen Firming and Moisturising Facial Mask - This was great! My face felt nice and plump after application! Although it's hard to tell the difference with one sheet.

Compeed Invisible Patch -These are for cold sores. To use, apply the little translucent circular sticker on to your cold sore during the day or over night. I get small cold sores when I eat certain foods, I'd chuck on a patch and it will literally disappear over night. Disregarding the size of your cold sore, it will heal within a few days. I've never tried Cold Sore creams but I don't think I will with these babies.

Maybelline EverFresh Makeup - This foundation has been sitting in my box for a long time, finally decided to chuck it out. I am pretty sure Maybelline uses bleach properties in some of their products. The sink had patches of orange after i washed my face, my purple towel also had orange patches where I wiped my face. If this happens, throw your makeup out, do not re-purchase.

Estee Lauder Magna-Scopic - I received this little sample from a promotion a while back. It served me well. Easily rinsed in water. I've made a couple of "looks" with this mascara on. Click here to see.

I made this little christmas photo ^_^ I have a bunch of rabbit photos on my instagram!

Mini Stawberrynet Haul + Carols in the Domain

I decided to have a merry little Christmas by buying myself a present. I've been trying out a little sample of the Clinique's Pore Refining Foundation - it worked wonders. My pores were barely visible and I have a lot of pores.

Strawberrynet had a 10% off, then another 10% off all orders to Australia. So I ended up paying $32 for the foundation + Free Shipping. The foundation retails for $50 in Australia.
In the midst of it, I also received a free Korres Lip gloss with my purchase.

When I first took the foundation out of the box I thought it was sample sized. It was TINY! Then I realised the bottle was rather compact. It is in fact, a full size product.

I got the Clinique Pore Refining Solutions in #6 Ivory. The sample I received was #2 Alabaster.
Alabaster was a bit pink. Ivory was a little darker but had an olive undertone. The shading for this range is rather obscure, #2 and #4 were possibly the only shades that would suit light to medium-light skin tone.

There were a few shades of Korres Cherry Gloss to select from, I picked #52 Red.
It's a sheer red, very pretty.

I went to Carols in the Domain on Saturday, we got the Candle Bag (green bag below) - with over $100 worth of goodies for only $15, all products were donated and all profits went to charity.

There were a lot of random items... from chocolates, biscuits, lollies, chips to small containers, wet wipes and a freddo keyring. We got it for the candles, so we can wave it around in time with the carols.

To my ardent surprise, I found a Tony and Guy Dry Shampoo and a Burt's Bees Beewax Lip Balm!

Here's a picture from Carols in the Domain, the carols started at 8.30PM ... we got there at about 3.50pm. It was jam packed.

Have you tried any of the beauty products? Did you go to Carols in the Domain?

My Summer Makeup!

Swapping my makeup around during summer is inevitable - especially to avoid the whole face melting scenario.

Alright let's break it down!

I've been using SunSense Invisible Tint Finish as my base, it's got SPF 50 (with UVA and UVB protection) - suited to the current scorcher of a summer! It claims to be a matte, oil free product. I have dry skin and my skin gets a tiny bit oily after applying. I wouldn't recommend this for oily skin. This will not act as a foundation, it covers nothing.

Which is why I hide my blemishes, dark circles and what not with my Revlon Age Defying Concealer I've had this concealer for dragon years.

To minimise the shine and oiliness from the tint, I dust a think layer of Bobbi Brown Sheer Pressed Powder.

Brush some Maybelline Dream Mousse Shadow in Suede Sensation on both my lids - this shadow is definitely not my favourite, it's not very  pigmented... but it's not "heavy", doesn't seem to crease or melt.

For cheeks I use BYS Blusher and Bronzer, gorgeous mosaic with mild shimmer. Since I have dry skin, I love looking shiny (not sparkling). I tend to stay away from anything with shimmer on my cheeks, but it's look-able with a tan during summer. It'll give you a nice dewy glow.

Some Palmer's Suncreen Stick for extra lip protection!

One thing I like about summer is that I get to wear these floppy sun hats ^_^

Do you change your makeup during summer? What's your summer makeup routine?

This product is for normal to combination skin, so probably good for us dry skiners to use during summer time!

Maybelline New York Dream Fresh BB Cream

I think the blue bottled BB cream is made for people with oily skin. I've tried samples of this and loved it. It didn't dry out my skin.

Pelactiv Gentle Foaming Cleanser

Sample Size 30ml

A cleanser for oily and sensitive skin types. I do have sensitive skin, interested to see if this will work on my dry skin though!

I've been getting lines on my forehead - probably due to sun damage.. and the amount of freckles on my face is getting a bit ridiculous. This is PUUUUURRRRFECT!!! ^_^

Beauty Heaven: Beautorium Haul

I participated in the recent Beautorium hosted by Beauty Heaven (www.beautyheaven.com.au)  - redeem fantastic products with loyalty points!

I ordered one product and paid $4.95 for postage (sent by express post!) and received a nice bundle of goodies!

For 470 points, I picked up a whopping 1L of Dermaveen Everyday Body wash RRP $23.50.

I've been using Dermaveen's body wash for the past couple of months as an alternative for Pinetarsol. It's been working out well. I've been loyal to Pinetarsol for many years, their ongoing price fluctuation was too much for my poor dermatitis.

And now onto the generous freebies from Beauty Heaven! ^_^

Lady Jayne Ribbon Hair Ties - Gorgeous colours and designs ^_^

Janesce Softening Wonder  Cream

Avon Anew Clinical E-Defence (full size!)

What did you pick up from Beautorium? Link me if you made a post ^_^

My Month in Food - November 2013 (PIC HEAVY!!!!)

I take a trip to China Town's night market every now and then.... Mamak got their own little hut, so I grabbed some Roti!

Anyone know what this is actually called? The sweet japanese pancake thing with random fillings?

La Mono

Mono Mixed BBQ     $25.00
Includes Shish Kafta, Shish Tawook, Shish Kebab, served with Tabouli, Hommus, Garlic Dip, Vine Leaves, Sumbusik, Pickles & Lebanese Bread

N2 Extreme Gelato

N2 Extreme Gelato uses liquid nitrogen to make their gelatos. You'll know it if you've seen Heston's Feast.

See my previous review.

The one without the topping is Earl Grey flavoured. The other is Strawberryen (One of their specials). To be honest, I'm not a port person, the port fused strawberries kinda ruined it for me. Here's a picture of the Strawberryen content.

Da Chang Jin

One of my favourite places to go for Korean food... who doesn't love free side dishes!

Hot Bean Curd Soup with Rice - great for cold days!

The infamous free Korean side dishes!

Seafood udon

I went to a wedding with my boyfriend last month, It was up in Berambing- a small village in the Blue Mountains. I had a wonderful time... and of course, some food snap shots.

This was their wedding cake, can you believe the bride MADE the whole cake?!?!?  INCLUDING THE PENGUINs!!!

They labelled each seat with origami ^_^

I had the Duck Ravioli - I was a bit hesitant to eat duck rav with citrus salad, but it's actually a really nice combination!

Prawn Pocket

Grilled Salmon, Mash and Asparagus.
The other alternative was the beef, I LOVE salmon.... and here's me being picky... never over cook salmon. It's a crime!

Poached Pear and Creme Brulee

I've only had creme brulee at a proper italian restaurant once - it was a long time ago and I can barely remember. Can someone remind me whether creme brulee is served cold?

I hated medicine when I was a kid, I had a hard time swallowing  flu tablets but I loved poached pears... so mum started stuffing crushed flu tablets in my delicious poached pears throughout my childhood. Inevitably, I started associating poached pears with being ill. I can never look at poached pears the same again, boyfriend had to eat this.

Sorbet!

Wok Express

This is a new restaurant called  Wok Express  - they really are the express of wok... food came out within minutes! Affordable and tasty

Mum's Cooking! ^.

Sometimes I wonder why I dine out so much when I have amazing food at home. Mum made salmon sashimi and fried rice!

Thanon Khao San - Thai

One of the groupon vouchers took me to Thanon Khao. This restaurant seems to be quite busy. I tried to walk in to dine one afternoon - since the voucher is only for 2 mains a 2 drinks. I saw a couple of tables available from a far but the staff told me there were none. A week later, I called to book and they told me there were no spots available until a month later!? I also told them I had a groupon voucher. I'm taking a blind stab and making a wild assumption that they do not prioritise customers with vouchers.

Anywho, we got out stir fry and pad thai. It was pretty ordinary.

Thought i'd be naughty after finishing my degree and go to KFC :D Woohoo for zinger meal!

Ajisen Ramen

I ate at their city restaurant about a year ago, thought it was the worst Japanese restaurant I've ever been too. I ate a tiny plate of soft shell crab and it cost me a pretty penny, and a few ugly ones too. We walked past their Hurstville chain a week ago, we reluctantly went in as our stomachs grumbled. It wasn't as bad as my previous experience. The broth was quite oily and the spring onion wasn't too fresh. Not a place i'd cheer to go back any time soon.

Delima

I am some what of a regular to Delima. I remember the first time eating there, my friend and I were on our way to a 21st party and decided to stop by for a quick meal. Our food took longer than expected so I asked the waitress if it's possible to have it takeaway instead. They were so apologetic and offered us the meal for free.

Oh and I love my complimentary crackers haha.

Here's my Nasi Goreng, all time favourite, their Indonesian style fried chicken is pretty good too! This time round, the rice was a little too salty though - might suggest to ease up on the salt!

Delima Restaurant on Urbanspoon

Taglio Pizza Kitchen

Another one of my voucher adventures. The whole meal totaled $29. Not too bad.

Garlic Bread

Anti Pasto

Garden salad - First time I've seen carrots in garden salad!

Sphagetti Marinara

Quite nice, although... I wouldn't pay $20 for this, there is just not nearly enough seafood. But since it's a part of my voucher deal... I guess i'll let it slip.

Vegetarian Pizza -  Best woodfire base, the dough is kneaded to perfection. Wasn't too fond of the topping... it was a bit tasteless. Maybe more sauce and spices? Garlic Salt?

Twisted Noodle Bar

Lime Ice Tea - Interesting flavours!

Kungming Noodle - with sausage and chicken wing on the side (sausage was nice but the chicken wing had an odd taste...)

Da-Liang Noodle  with fried salmon

Twisted Noodle Bar on Urbanspoon

And some more home food.... swiss rolls for tea... sweet and sour pork for dinner :)

Now i'll leave you guys with some cat pictures.

Cat Nap!

Kawaii Neko! This is a japanese kitty ^_^

Oh and, I'm on Instagram! I can't seem to make up my mind about which social platform I want to be on... but I've been having a lot of fun looking at pictures. Please leave me your account if you have one ^_^
