Empties: June - July 2016

Can't believe we how fast this year is going, we are in AUGUST! How insane!
I have a small lot of collective empties from June to July, I always feel that the empties verdict is the most accurate because I spent a lot of time finishing (or partially finishing) the entire product. So if there's any product you are curious about, have a read!

Tony and Guy Dry Shampoo
I really can't tell the difference between dry shampoos this worked as well as my Batise ones. I tend to only use this when my hair feels disgusting and needs a wash. Now that I wash my hair every second day I haven't really found the need to repurchase.

SkinB5 Acne Control Caplets*
A full review was written a while back. I did take this in short bursts when I break out in the past few months, this stuff is effective however, now that I have been using it for almost a year, I found that it's not as effective for pimples arising during "that time of the month". Still a form of treatment that I would recommend for acne sufferers.

Elizabeth Arden Mediterranean Perfume
The second full size perfume I have ever finished! I did spray this like a mad woman though, it took forever to finish. The scent was a little fruity and island like - does that even make sense?

Rosehip Plus Daily Organic Cream Cleanser*
This is a gentle cleanser and great to use around the eyes. Now that I have finished the entire product, I feel that it's great for removing light makeup (which is what I wear on a daily basis), but if you are wearing heavier makeup, you might want to double cleanse.

See my full review for Rosehip Plus Cream Cleanser here.

Goldwell Ultra Volume Conditioner
This conditioner did not work for me. It turned my hair into dread locks (not quite but  you know what I mean, all bunched up together). I kept giving it the benefit of doubt but the result always ended up the same.

Swisse Hand Cream
This little tube took me forever to use, it's very light weight and hydrating. I don't mind the scent either. This was a sample size so great for my handbag but I had to clean the lid all the time as the product would clog around the lid.

Sunsense Daily Face Invisible Tint Finish*
I have heard a lot of negative reviews for this product but I really like it! Since my skin can get quite dry I love that it gives me a little bit of a shine. I can see why oily skinned gals wouldn't like this as it does not have a matte finish. But for me, two thumbs up.

And some small samples that I finished, all were "meh" nothing worth mentioning a part from the Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream - which I loved.

I had the courage to throw the above out. They had either gone off, too old or just didn't work for me.

  • Revlon palette - I have had this since I was 21, time to part.
  • Maybelline Color Molten- Another product that just did not work for me, there was barely any colour pay off and the texture was a bit.. strange?! Cushion-y and difficult to use..
  • Sugar Baby Lipstick - Another product I loved but had for years..
  • Minxx Lip Gloss* - Not having a lot of luck with this brand, the lipstick was off when I received it and now the gloss is off .. sigh... (Here's the full review)
  • Oil of Morocco Lip Gloss- I strangely liked this peppermint scented gloss. It was a bit sticky but did my lips well and I got some use out of it. However had it for years.
  • Rimmel Radiance BB Cream* - Oh how I loved this product. Unfortunately the texture has gone funny so I suspected it's time for the bin.(See full review here).

December Empties 2012

The end always marks triumph or accomplishment to me. I love the feeling of finishing a product... mainly because it highlights my consistent effort and will to smear it on my face every now and then. Also because I hardly ever finish products....

Bobbi Brown Extreme Party Mascara
I think Bobbi Brown over emphasised on the "extreme" and "Party" bit... after 2 coats, this mascara gives you natural looking lashes, which I love. Curl, lengthen and thicken some what - but definitely not to the Extreme Party extent. It wasn't too wet like Lancome or Shiseido... which I loved also.

Dr Alkaitis Organic Eye Creme- Restoring Rich Eye creme
I started using this eye cream when I was about 20... bad idea to use rich eye creme, it gave me milia. I quickly reverted back to an eye gel. When i hit 22, I discovered a very fine line under my eye... this baby worked miracles. It kept the skin under my eyes moisturised, I'm not kidding when I say the line disappeared when I used this in conjunction with Shiseido's the skincare restoring eye cream. I'm amazed at the results because the ingredients used are 100% natural, certified organic.

Blistex
My saviour across all seasons.

Empties 2012, first half

I take forever to finish products, I'm also a slow eater. But I finally polished off few of my many skincare/cosmetics.

From Left to Right

  • Kakadoodle Dew Nourishing Day Cream 15ml - Quite rich, I liked the scent. I did keep my skin moisturised than most moisturisers.
  • BYS Candyfloss Blush 5g- Worst blush I've used, breaks down like an emo kid with too much eyeliner. The colour was a nice babydoll pink.
  • Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Mascara - This mascara gives you incredible lengthy, natural lashes.
  • Lancome Hypnose- I love Lancome mascaras. Already re-purchased.
Pinetarsol- I got this fucked up skin condition on the back of my arms after sleeping on the living room sofa for 6 months. I got itchy bites all down my arm, probably from spiders, mites or some sort of insects. Initially, I used soap-- it only made my spider bites worse. I hopped into Priceline and took this baby home. This is excellent for sensitive skin, completely calmed my bites down.

Chucking Old Make Up & September Empties

Once my thesis blow over I'll go through everyone's blogsposts. Promise. I'm DYING to procrastinate... but.. re-strain!

Anyway... here's a post
Mum has been pestering me to clean out my make up draw for... well, possibly the last year.

Like all mothers, it's what she does best.

It gets a little odd, sometimes. I confess that I listen to love song dedication fairly religiously, my heart and soul belongs in 80s & the 90s. I love my savage garden, tom jones, smiths, cranberries etc. See, mum doesn't understand music... instead, she said this to me.

"You need a boyfriend."
"?"
"You listen to that rubbish every night, It's depressing"
"..."

That actually prompt me to clean my draw.

Some Miscellaneous lip glosses & brushes. Never again will I ever buy cheap lip products. God knows what I'm eating.

I FINALLY finished using some products...
Softlips (French Vanilla): Love the menthol feel but didn't feel it was moisturising enough for my extremely dry lips.

Kakadoodle Dew Day Cream: Loved it! it did my skin justice. Only downside is that I can't get it here in Australia :(

Wella hair mascara: I got this in 4th grade, rest assured I haven't used it in the last 10 years. It's... pretty much a mascara... except for your hair. You can wash it off. I liked it. Not sure where you can get it now.

Bobbi Brown Intensive skin supplement: this was a serum sample I received. To be honest... I didn't feel like it did any difference to my skin. It had a rather alcohol-y scent to it that I dislike. It wasn't overly sticky though. Just didn't feel it worked for me. which is a shame because I love Bobbi's products...

Here's a close up of the hair mascara. Intrigued?

Everyday Minerals Lipbalm in Icing on Cake- Pretty colour, didn't do it for me in the moisture department.
