Bellabox January 2013 - We Love Australia!

Product information card and a Bellababy promotion card.

You Me and Everybody Cool it Aloe Vera Gel
100ml @ $8.95
FULL SIZE

I've received this brand from a previous Bellabox. This is probably the only product I'm excited about in this box.

Face of Australia Makeup Purifying Cleansing Wipes
25 wipes @ $4.95
FULL SIZE

My face is really sensitive, I've been using organic wipes and WOTNOT wipes. I might give this a go and see how my skin responds.

Mode Nail  Polish - Rave'n
15ml @ $2.45
FULL SIZE

This is the second nail polish I've received from BB since September and I really don't wear nail polish... I've indicated my preference for neutral/natural tones on my BB beauty profile... I'll give it a go though..

Swisse Body Wash with Vitamin B3 and Macrobiotic Sea Minerals
250ml @ $14.95
30ml @ $1.79

Another brand I've received not too long ago from BB....

Natio  BB cream Sample
50g @ $14.95
5g @ $1.49

I've previously received this exact sample for free on Natio's facebook.

Hedgehog Wall sticker -- this is cute.

Total Box Value -- $19.63

Overall, I'm disappointed with this box. Product and value wise. I could've gone out to Priceline and purchased products that I need using the $15.
I've been thoroughly impressed with my first two months of my subscription (September and October), then my boxes have been on a declining gradient... for example...glitter eyeliner (what I received) VS full size rosehip oil or eye cream with gold essence?? Anyone else noticed this?
I've realised that earlier batches holds lesser value and those who receive the later boxes receive high end brands such as Lancome, Bobbi Brown.... etc. If my theory is correct Jurlique will probably be in the later batches for this month. I'm disappointed in the lack of equal distribution, I'm sure most of us signed up to try new brands/products or products we can't afford. I'm beginning to slowly regret signing up for the year subscription. I will still give these products a try and see how they are quality wise. But hopefully, there will be a better mix of variety + high and low end brands for every box in the months to come.

  1. From what I've noticed January's box is always underwhelming and contains no actual make up. GAH! Why did I sign up in JAN?!!

    1. Thanks for your comment! I've read a few ladies received an eyeshadow collection from Face of Australia... I hope you'll get that one :)

  2. I agree to the unequal distribution of products. Of course they don't entirely take into consideration all our concerns since they have preprinted cards they have to put in every box. They just choose the one that is closest to your profile. I November my concerns were eyes and pigmentation and I got an anti ageing cream while others did get a that eye cream and rosehip oil.

    1. True, I wish they'd mix it up a little even if it's not tailored to my profile so much. I've been receiving mainly Priceline products in the past few boxes :\

  3. Looks really crap. Could of saved myself that $15 this month.

    1. I hope BB will step up their game next month!

  4. Also I wonder why would our income bracket be of concern to them. Maybe they give high end product samples and ordinary ones according to the income. Not to forget these boxes are merely a marketing strategy and all brands target their potential customers only

    1. The income bracket would be so they know how much money you have to spend to go out and purchase the products after trying them. These are sample boxes basically, the whole purpose of them is for people to sample products to purchase later on. It makes sense for them as someone that earns very little will often not purchase extreme high end make-up (not always the case but is common). There's no point giving me a small sample of something that costs $100 full size as the odds are I'm not going to purchase that due to budget.

    2. Actually... I have a few friends subscribed to BB, one earns well above average income and has been receiving "cheaper" boxes, while the other is unemployed with minimal income, yet she's has been receiving higher end brands...it probably would be logical to allocate based on socioeconomic status (which is still a bit discriminative - consider rich parents?)... but that doesn't seem to be the case thus far.

  5. I was so disappointed with this months Bella Box.
I'll give them next month to redeem themselves and if there is no improvement I'll be unsubscribing.

    1. This has been the most disappointing box so far... I really hope it will be better next month!

  6. I agree that this months box was really disappointing. I'm extra disappointed now that I see your box - I got exactly the same as you, minus the hedgehog wall sticker. Seems a bit unfair that they're giving some members bonus products :/

    1. I'm sorry to hear that you didn't receive the hedgehog sticker!! That seems incredibly bizarre, since BB are well aware that members will be post up pictures etc... I hope BB will subscribe to equal distribution soon, otherwise there might be an uproar surrounding inequality.

  7. My daughter just received her bellabox with the same contents and she was really excited. I can't wait to receive mine as I'm hoping it's the same one. I think bellabox does a great job giving us a lovely selection of different products every month, and whilst I understand that not everybody will be happy with every box or some particular products they receive, I believe that bellabox gives us great value for our $15 per month and postage free. It gives us the opportunity to try different products we normally wouldn't get to try. I no longer waste heaps of money on expensive products I used to buy in the shops that aren't really suitable for me. I now get to try and then buy what I like. I'm happy!

    1. I completely agree that BB has been doing a brilliant job with giving us value and variety. And as you mentioned, not everyone will be happy with the contents especially when members are receiving different boxes with lesser/greater value. I really hoped to sample a variety of brands and products from BB (Like I have from LHI Eco Box - They've been dishing out some amazing local and international brands/products I would have never came across) rather than Priceline/chemist products... which I assume many of us would've been using already. Although I didn't feel that this box was suitable for me, I'm really happy you and your daughter liked it :)
