Yay! I'm going away + What's in my Travel Bag?

I'm finally going on a relatively extended trip!  We will be visiting Japan and various parts of China. I am very excited but also a bit nervous because I get bus sick... sea sick....car sick, you name it, i'll get sick in it. Though I haven't been sick on planes for the past few times I've been on *touch wood*.

I spent hours stuffing presents into my luggage bag and a mere 10mins packing my beauty bag (thanks to all the beauty boxes, I have travel friendly everything).

I didn't pack much makeup products because i'll be SPLURGING IN JAPAN!  ^_^

Rengaya Restaurant Review - North Sydney

I drove up to North Sydney for this spectacular restaurant. We were invited out by some family friends. When I first heard we were having Japanese, I immediately thought "sushi..  sashimi ... bento"

Rengaya is one of Yakiniku's Japanese BBQ Restaurant. You may have heard of Koh-Ya or Suminoya (both in sydney).

I loved this restaurant so much... other than the fact that it might eat up a fair percentage of your weekly pay cheque... it's worth it.

Spinach and Almond Salad - $13.90
Fresh Spinach, Tuna Flakes, Sliced Onions, Sliced Almond with Soy Sauce Dressing

I will "attempt" to make this salad at home, whoever thought of this salad combination is a genius!

Wagyu "Yukke" - $13.90
Wagyu Beef Tartar with Shallots, Sesame oil, Garlic and a Raw Egg

I'm not a huge raw meat eater, I like my steak well done. But I love wagyu beef tartar.... No scent, no off putting taste...it doesn't even taste like raw beef!

Salmon and Avocado Salad - $15.90
Chopped Salmon, Golden Cavier, Avocado, sliced onion and mixed vegies, with soy french dressing sauce

WHY IS EVERYTHING HERE SO DELICIOUS!??!?!?!

Premium Sashimi Selection $49.90
Salmon, Tuna, Kingfish, Oyster, Whitefish, Scampi, Scallop, Squid and Salmon Roe

This was sashimi heaven, SO fresh!!!!

Half a Dozen of Natural Oysters - $19.90
Fresh Oysters topped with ponzu-vinegar and grated fish

I never eat raw oysters, but this was amazing... didn't smell or taste fishy at all. I added a lot of Tabasco sauce.

Scampi Sashimi - $20.90

Wagyu Ox Tongue - $33.90
Served with Natural Salt and Citrus Pepper

First time trying Ox Tongue (this went on the BBQ btw - see pictures below). A little hesitant but it was so tender! We also got the Premium Wagyu Short Rib (I forgot to take a picture because I was so indulged in food)... it was the best wagyu.....!!!

Assorted Vegetables - $18.90

For the BBQ - Served with Himalayan Rock Salt

 Unagi - Mabushi - $24.90
Eel with Japanese Pepper, Salmon Roe, Shallots, Egg and Red Pickled Ginger with Teriyaki Sauce

Remember the Scampi Sashimi? After we ate the Sashimi, the staff took the left overs to make this Scampi Udon (Approx $12 per bowl)

Cre'me De Caramele - $12.90
Cre'me De Caramele Served with Almond Tuile, Sasonal Fruits and Dried Fruit

Best dessert in my opinion

Green Tea Ice Cream - $5.60
Green Tea Ice Cream with Almon tuile and Red Beans

Apple Comport with Red Wine Sorbet and Chocolate Mousse - $19.90

"WA" Japanese Plate - $18.90
Green Tea Cre'em Brulee, Warabimochi with sweet black syrup, shiratama zenzai with tea

How often do you see a big slab of Himalayan Pink Rock Salt sitting in a restaurant??

Also found this attractive guy in the window.

This place was totally worth the travel. Highly highly recommended. Perfect for special occasions... or if you just happen to have a few hundred dollars lying around with no where to go..
