Review: Benefit They're Real Mascara

It's been a while since I've been on Blogspot, had some stuff happening at home, now I'm trying hard to catch up with everyone's posts!

I received a couple of questions regarding the mascara I was using in my Canmake Palette Review with the following picture.

Well... I thought I'd might as well review the mascara ;)

Would you guys have guessed it was Benefit's They're Real?

Verdict

Pros
  • I've heard many raves and positive reviews for this product... it's not my HG smudge proof mascara (will review it later) but it's one of the better ones. I love the formula. I have watery eyes and I always get mascara residues transferred to my under eyes. This mascara's been quite good I've been using it everyday and have observed very minor smudges.
  • You don't need to layer, a generous coat will leave with nice looking lashes.
  • Holds curls and light weight.
Cons
  • Is it just me or does the brush look scary? The tip looks like a medieval spiked flail. The tip of the mascara doesn't work so well for me. I assume that it was designed for bottom lashes and hard to reach places, unfortunately, it's a little counter intuitive as you pull the brush out from the container, more product will sit at the tip of the brush.... having longer bristles enables more product to sit between bristles. As a result, it tends to dispense too much product onto my lashes. It takes a while for me to comb the lashes and even everything out.
  • As much as I love smudge proof mascaras, they are difficult to remove, I've been using Mary Kay's eye makeup remover, it's been working well but I find a lot of my lashes falling out.

Ok guys, if you haven't seen this Muppet trailer, you need to watch it! It's hilarious!

  1. Your eyelashes look amazing! but $38 for a mascara is quite pricey for me, but I'm kind of a cheapo...

  2. I quite like this mascara too, but I can't really justify high end mascaras when I can find several low end budget mascaras that do just a good job at a fraction of the price!

  3. benefit they're real is my fave high end mascara! I have very short, straight and sparse lashes and they're real can make them look 'visible' lol

  4. It's HORRENDOUS to remove, but so pretty! Not to sound creepy, but I was thinking of you the other day and wondering where you'd gone to. It's great to see you back! I hope everything's going well for you.

  5. I've only seen lots of positive review but honestly I don't know why people are complaining or upset about the long wearing qualities. If it isn't so waterproof or long wearing, it'd cause more problems so I just use a damn good eye make up remover! Although a bi facil type and I totally want to try this, it looks amazing on your eyes!

  6. Good to see you back, hope all is well Lily :) I totally agree about the scary looking brush and omg so hard to remove, may as well just cut my eyelashes off haha. I only use it for evening wear and it gives me panda eyes the next morning, no matter how hard I try to remove it!!

  7. I only wear waterproof mascara, and yes, it can be a pain to remove, but with the right make-up remover, it's effortless. I quite like the Gently off Make up remover by MAC, gets off waterproof mascara effortlessly. ^__^
