Birthday Post: Another Year Older - Pic Heavy

When I was 12 all I wanted to do was to grow up, I loved and looked forward to every birthday.

I had my birthday a few days ago, and I am terrified of birthdays now that I'm heading towards the mid-twenties.

My idea of a 24 year old as a child is somewhat incomparable to my current lifestyle...

  • I am still living with my parents (but honestly, with the way my mum is cooking, I never want to move out)
  • I'm not married (Seeing all my younger high school acquaintances getting married on Facebook freaks me out)
  • I don't have children (Seeing all my younger high school acquaintances popping out children on Facebook freaks me out even more.)
  • I don't even have a car (YET... working on it!)
  • I have at least 10yrs worth of HECS debt to pay off.....
  • In the last year I left my job(s) - Noooooooo my main sources of income
I'm not sure what happened to the level of desired Independence I wished for as a teenager. Despite all, looking at the brighter side, I finish my postgrad in 3 months (Oh PHd, I will come back for your in the near future) and I was given one of the best birthdays I've had in years.

You see, I have this awfully loving and wonderful boyfriend who spoils me rotten ! ^_^
I'm not usually a "my boyfriend this and my boyfriend that" type of person... but ummm....

WOAH!!! Birthday presents attack!!!

Rilakkuma Pens - They are absolutely adorable, you click at the ears ^_^

3 Rilakkuma photo albums with pictures that summed up our year. One of the most memorable presents I've received. He had to get the photos specially customised to fit the photo albums... So much effort!!!

And some left over food pictures..

Sailor Moon Box set! I told him I was watching Sailor Moon on Youtube, on a daily basis... but I couldn't find few of the latter episodes so I stopped watching. This is a great example of active listening ... Man... I really need to brush on my present formulating skills.

A Rilakkuma bowl!!!! It's so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And of course, a fail-proof hand made card ^_^

My lovely parents got me a profiterole cake! NOMNOMNOM

Minus the fact that I caught that terrible virus that's been hovering around. I had a great birthday. ^_^

How do you usually celebrate your birthday?

Lust Have It August 2013 - Celebration

It's LHI's Birthday Month! I was super excited because it's my birthday month as well and I couldn't wait to dig into my goodies!

La Roche Posay Thermal Spring Water
RRP $21.95 for 300g
Received 50g

I've seen this before, but I wasn't sure why people used it. Apparently it's good to sooth and protect the skin. Or use after cleansing. A very novel product for me!

Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator in Pink Light
RRP $29.95 for 30ml
FULL SIZE

Used to enhance your skin. Can be used under, above or with your foundation. Apparently it will minimise flaws as well.

A very interesting product. I hate using full coverage foundations etc so I'm really keen to try this with powder !

KMS California Free Shape Hot Flex Spray
RRP $31.95 for 200ml
Received 30ml

The other option was the volumising spray. I don't use a lot of hair products but I probably should, especially with the sort of crazy wind that's been blowing around lately.

SinfulColours Nail Polish in Folly
RRP $4.95 for 15ml
FULL SIZE

I really like this colour, it's a pinkish red with a purple undertone. I think I'll be using this on my toe nails. My hands just can't do red!

La Roche Posay LIPIKAR Balm
RRP $37.95 for 400ml
Received 15ml

This product is great to replenish dry skin. It's paraben, soap, fragrance free! Great for treating eczema prone skin and extreme dryness. This can be used on babies and children. From what I read on the factsheet, this is for the body.

LUSH Gorgeous Cream
RRP $74.95 for 45g
Received 10g

Holy crap, that's some expensive cream! This this a lovely vegetarian product, filled with vitamins, great for softening. It smells very herbal.

Free Shape Shampoo
RRP $28.95 for 300ml
Recieved 12ml

Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation Samples

A useful product if you are looking to purchase some revlon foundations. However, I have enough foundations to last me for a few years. Not sure what I can use this for? The darker ones for bronzer and the lighter for concealer?? lol

Bellabox August 2013 - Get Active

It's that time of the month again! My BB yearly subscription is coming to an end :(
I can't believe it's been a year already!

Ultraceuticals Ultra CC cream mineral tint SPF 30
RRP $59 for 50ml
Received 5ml

I still haven't got around to my Rachel K cc creams yet, but I have heard so many fabulous reviews so I'm excited to try this out!

ASAP Ultimate Hydration
RRP $79 for 50ml
Received 15ml

Woohoo a dry skin product! Adios wrinkles!

Pevonia gentle exfoliating cleanser
RRP $67 for 150ml
Received 5ml

Contains jojoba beads, saponaria and chamomile. Nice Nice.

Loreal Base Magique Primper
RRP $29.95 for 15ml
Received 5ml

I never wear primer, whatever I put on in the morning is all I'll have on throughout the day.
However, my partner is taking me to a wedding in Nov, so this will come in handy ^_^

Tom Organic Tampons
RRP $7.99 for 16 tampons
Received 2 tampons

I've been using the brand "Cotton" at the moment - they are hypo-allergenic, 100% cotton and biodegradable. I'm always on the hunt for quality tampons so I'm glad to receive this!

Talavou Naturals Illuminisor Lustre
RRP $39.95 for 8g
Not sure about the size received but looks like 2g?

This bronzer only contains Mica, Zinc Oxide and Titanium Oxide.
As you may have seen from other blogs, this is a sample product in a full size container. I personally didn't like the container, it wasn't easy to open, if I pulled off the white tape covering the holes the loose bronzer would've spilled everywhere every time I open it. Otherwise, I'm happy to receive this product.

Banana Boat Mineral Protect Sensitive SPF 30+
RRP $15.75
FULL SIZE

I just sunscreen everyday and lather my face like it's no body's business. Sunscreen is something I'll always need and run out, so this is a good addition.

I am pleased with the box overall, although nothing popped out at me, but I will definitely use all the items.
It's been a good year with Bellabox, hopefully, I'll find myself re-purchasing an annual subscription in the near future!

My Month in Food - July 2013

I haven't logged onto blogspot for a while because I started my 7 week work placement for uni! They put me in WHS/OH&S/Workers Compensation this time. It has been really enjoyable so far, I'm just not used to the 5:30am rise in the morning!

Before I start my food post, I received my BEAUTIFUL India ICON prize pack from Jac! I can't wait to dig into them after I finish my crappy coles shampoos. Click to check out Jac's blog ^_^

Thank you Jac!

OK.. SO ....I've seen a lot of "my week in pictures" posts. Other than eating, I honestly don't do much during the week... or the fortnight. So I decided to do a continuation of each month in food ^_^

Dae Jang Kum

This place is on my list of reliable restaurants. I love how Korean restaurants provide their diners with free side dishes! We ordered the beef stir fry and seafood pancake + 2 bowls of rice.. the rest were
complimentary. Great huh?

Twisted Noodle Bar

Yunnan Noodle $11.80: Pork, egg, beef, mushroom, bean sprouts, chives and tofu in pork soup
Side Dish: Chicken wing and sausage

Generous serving, I started to bloat after my meal. I asked for minimal chili and vinegar, my mouth burned regardless. I didn't feel there was too much flavour though. I prefer ramen.

Da-Liang noodles in fish soup $11.80: Mixed mushrooms and steamed vegies. Side dish: deep fried salmon

I'm not sure where the mushroom went... but the fish soup was much more tasty - no fishy after taste.

The service wasn't too pleasant, every there appears as if they REALLY HATE THEIR JOB!

MissChu's Tuckshop

My partner decided he wanted to come back here for his birthday, so we did!!

As always, you mark your order on their paper menu and pay at the "tuckshop"

That's everything we got! I didn't take a photo of my drink, but it's was an Organic Chai Latte $4 - not bad, but it wasn't hot.... my latte was LUKEWARM! Shame on you latte maker!!!

Prawn and crab net spring rolls 4 per serve, gluten free $6

I couldn't really taste the crab or maybe i was too hungry and gobbled the whole thing down. I would definitely order this again. A bit pricey for 4 small pieces.

Caramelised free range pork belly strew $16

With asian greens and aromatic rice - I thought it was quinoa but I could be wrong. This was delicious, the pork belly was tender and well marinated. Balanced well with the "rice" and greens. VERY generous servings of pork belly... I started feeling sick towards the end. As much as I loved it, I don't think I'd order this to eat alone again- pork belly overdose!

Wild rice and quinoa with vegan sauteed shitake, enoki and shimeji mushrooms $13

My partner really enjoyed this, I liked the variety of mushrooms and fried onions... but it was a little too gingery for me. I'm not a ginger girl!

Cucumber and Lychee Crushie - $7.50

Very very refreshing, you gotta make sure you like cucumber in a drink, it took me a while to get used to.

Sticky date and custard pudding - approx $4?

I;m not a fan of MissChu's desserts... my hutch is that they buy bulk of the stuff from a grocery store and sell it individually for a jacked up price. It tasted like something that was out of the packet... that's been stored in a fridge for a while. Same thing happened when we got the sago as time.

Cupcakes on Pitt

After dinner, I decided to keep spoiling him with some cupcakes.

Top to bottom (left) : Chocolate Sundae and Tiramisu
Top to Bottom (middle) : Orange jaffa and peanut butter
Top to bottom (right): Cherry Ripe and Lemon Meringue

They were ALL delicious. Favourites were peanut butter and lemon meringue.

The Muglan

Mango Lassi

Nomomnom

Complimentary pappadum with mint sauce

Top grade pappadum and loved the sauce

Garlic Naan

 Saag Ra Aloo Tarkari $12.50

Potatoes cooked with spinach. Finished with nutmeg and cream.
I couldn't taste the nutmeg or cream, it was fairly gingery. Great flavours though, this one wasn't too spicy ^_^

Prawn Korma (mild) $19.90

Cooked in cashew nut and coconut sauce, it was a bit spicy for me but the prawn was tender and the sauce was velvety.

Service was lovely... HOWEVER.... I found a cockroach walking across my side of the table!!!!! The waitress came and captured it WITH HER HAND.... in a single grab! I get concerned about the cleanliness of the kitchen when I see a cockroach roaming around the dinner table on the second storey.
