Review: Model Co Lip Lacquer Lip Gloss in Morocco

I received this gorgeous lip gloss from my recent Lust Have It! Pack.

I've previously had some relatively negative experience with Model Co and their product quality. I picked the shade Morocco, it was such a gorgeous shade, I couldn't resist and dug into it.

Product Claim (from Model Co's website):
  • Pigment-dense, long-lasting lip colour.
  • Non-sticky formula with a vivid colour tint.
  • Slim and slender; the ideal handbag staple.
  • Hydrating, all-day moisture
 Price: $27 AUD

My Verdict:

  • Perfectly glossy, this would be a great top up on already coloured lips. This shade is very close to my natural lip colour, instead of a colour boost, it gave me a natural shine. The gloss itself is quite sheer, you won't really get a real colour pay off by wearing it on it's own.
  • Not really sticky. Sticky is such an arbitrary term ... this gloss is sticky in the sense that my hair will get stuck on my lips if the wind blows the wrong way, but it's won't seal my lips together or form obscure lines of horizontal gloss goo when I snap my lips. Overall, a thumbs up. EDIT: Over time, this lip gloss became unbearably sticky and I had to throw it out.
  • My lips did remain hydrated for most of the wear, I didn't experience any chapped lips phenomena as I had with a few drug store glosses.
  • The wand of the gloss is flat. This is a hidden bonus, it allows easy and quick applications of the gloss on your lips.
  • Reapplication after approximately 2-2.5 hours.

Review: Meme Box #32 OMG 2 + GIVEAWAY!!

I cannot express my recent collaboration with Meme Box. I've seen so many reviews and rants via the blogsphere I couldn't wait to get my hands on one! I am completely flabbergasted by the amount of full size products in this both. This kinda put the our national boxes to shame.. I love my makeup, but I use more skincare than I do makeup, needless to say, I was extremely pleased with this box.

Lets get started, this box is all about FUNKY TRENDS!

Priori Aroma Moisture Gel Most 100ml
FULL SIZE
$24

This product contains bee venom, propolis, sophora roots, balloon flower roots and multi EX magnotics. Well, that's a mouthful! Apparently it'll help to treat your skin and fight blemishes (what I need at the moment!!).

Ladykin Vanpir Dark Repair Cream 50ml
FULL SIZE
$50

Is "Vanpir" an actual word or does just sound like "Vampire"??
Claims to restore and brighten skin (very vamp like - no?) It also has anti aging properties to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Yes yes yes and yes!! I have so many freckles on my cheeks and nose, you can probably play line the dots. This will definitely come in handy.

Seatree Syn-Ake Essence 45ml
FULL SIZE
$20

Contains youth preserving ingredients, such as Syn Ake peptides (similar composition to snake venom and hyaluronic acid). I've noticed that insect and reptile venom/juices are highly regarded in Korean skincare. I got a friend who has been trying the snail cream and achieved excellent results. I'm curious.

Haruen Dorothy Haruen - S1ea
FULL SIZE
$26

Volcanic rock rollerball that absorbs excess oil, grease, blackheads and acne inducers. Made from 100% volcanic rock. Apparently you'll achieve a matified look by rolling the ball on your face. I get oily around my T-zones, especially on my nose when I am in the office (the air con really brings out the oil). So I might pop this in my bag. You can roll this on your face before and after makeup.

Milky Dress Bohr-effect carboxy Gel 1set
FULL SIZE
$24
A 2-step mask that will deep cleanse and extract pore clogging bacteria, firms and tightens sagging skin. Wooohooo, this is perfect for me. My pores are uncontrollably large due to previous breakouts and my non-disciplined hands. I hated pimples and my mission was to squeeze them all. Not so appealing now. Hopefully this will be effective!

Cristallin Cellulose Mask 28g x2
FULL SIZE
$10

This mask is desgined to improve skin's clarity and elasticity, the "Jelly like" texture will "feel like an octopus wrapped around your face" - that was on the product card. HAHA! OH... I don't know whether it's a good thing or not, I don't really want to know what it's like to have an octopus on my face! Two masks for $10 is a little bit hefty.

OK! SO! I have a GIVEAWAY for you guys! :)

1 x Winner will recive $30 in Meme points (equivalent to a free $23 Box + free Shipping)
2 x Runner up will receive 7 Meme points (equivalent to 1x free standard shipping)

OPEN INTERNATIONAL

I.C.O.N CURE for a Cause Campaign

October is our National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I appreciate the fact that we host public awareness campaigns to focus on those who are affected within our society. Working in the health industry requires me to connect with an array of wondering people with different abilities, strengths and needs. Public awareness provides the opportunity to rid stigma, promote social acceptance and consequently, engage devoted scientists and medical practitioners to research and structure interventions.

I.C.O.N  launched their "CURE for a Cause" campaign and raised thousands of dollars by their hosting annual 5k run. The success and the possibility of this campaign is empowered and reinforced by the participation of those like you and I.

Don't worry, this particular cause does not require you to switch from heels to runners. For us beauty buffs, I.C.O.N has launched their CURE range and CURE for a Cause gift box containing two replenishing sprays 60ml and 250ml. Every purchase will guarantee a donation to cancer research.

I.C.O.N CURE replenishing spray conditions and restores dry and stressed hair by utilising renewable resources and the ecology of raw ingredients. I love the concept of the of the replenishing spray and how parallels as a metaphoric tie to the CURE for a Cause campaign  by emphasising on it's renewal and restoring properties. I would like to harness this opportunity to galvanise individuals to participate in this campaign - whether it's purchasing a CURE for a Cause product or simply by passing on the word, we are making our own contributions to raise awareness.

Lust Have It! - September 2014

Finally. I received my package today and we are about to hit mid October. My biggest pet peeve is being late, my job involves a lot of meetings and appointments. One thing I can tell you is that I am never late. I'll start palpitating with 10 mins to go.

Anyway, lets get on with this.

I didn't get an information card this month (first time this has happened).

Glam Manicare Express 3 in 1
 FULL SIZE
This is a nail art pen, I'm guessing that I can use one side to paint my nails and the other side to apply the little glitter circles. I've been practising painting my nails with a steady hand, I think I might be brave enough to try this.

Urban Skincare Co Repair Body Balm

I have never heard of this brand before, but it's Australian Designed and Owned - always a plus! I get dry hands and legs no matter what season we are in. This will definitely come in good use. At 35ml, I can't tell you if this is full size or not.

The Cosmetic Kitchen Macadamia Wax Creme Highlighter

We've received quite a few products from The Cosmetic Kitchen in the past few months. I really like how their products are vegan and cruelty free. Most of all, they are local at downtown Newtown. Now.. since I don't have my product card, can someone please tell me whether this is a face highlighter/gloss or multiuse product?

ModelCo Lip Lacquer in Morocco
 FULL SIZE
I picked my shade in Morocco, two shades darker than my natural lip colour. This is a great everyday work lacquer. I'm not too fond of ModelCo products due to their poor quality - dry lipsticks, sticky glosses and cakey foundations. I really like this shade so I'll give it a try, hopefully, better than some of their other products.

Uriage Cleansing Gel sample

I go through cleansers like no body's business, this is a great addition!

UrbanSkincareCo voucher - feel free to use this code.

Overall, I thought this month's content was fair. I'm eager to try the highlighter and lip lacquer. However, nothing really stood out for me to the point where I want jump with joy - and I am easily excited.

What are your thoughts on September's box?

Empties: September 2014

Nothing equates to the feeling of tossing used beauty products to make room for MORE!
I've been putting my dollar away for a hopeful splurge at the end of the year.

Daisy by Marc Jacobs
I never thought this day would come. I finished the first perfume I purchased, this baby lasted for 5 strong years.

Dove Body Wash
Just another body wash - nothing special.

Sukin Rosehip Oil
This rosehip oil is quite effective, however, I can't stand the scent. It smells like old cooking oil. I wish tried out a tester before I bought 2 bottles... Ah well, one down, one to go. My personal recommendation is A'kin rosehip oil.

Revlon Age Defying Concealer - Discontinued
Another product I've been using for dragon years. I loved this little pot of creamy concealer, the consistency was perfect. The product itself was quite hydrating.

I've been trying hard to reduce my sample stash - some honorable mentions...

Natio Pure Mineral Skin Perfecting BB Cream - Hands down, the best BB cream I've tried so far. Super light weight, great coverage, long lasting and hydrating.

I'd recommend you to give Rimmel BB Cream  a miss. It smelt like chemicals and it would some how congregate around dry patches after a long day of wear.

I've had Bonne Bell's eyeshadow palette and Stila brush (from Stila's smudge pot) since I was in high school, time to meet the bin!
