Review: La Mav Eye Shadows + Swatches

Holy Moly it's November! I cannot believe how quickly time is going as we are approaching December and the Christmas rush... well, I've found the perfect Christmas stocking filler! Today is an exciting day, it's La Mav's official launch date for their gorgeous eye shadows.

As mentioned in my previous La Mav Skincare Review, they are a fantastic Australian brand. I am sure you all know by now that I am a great supporter of local products, I would rather spend my money on Australian products to ensure jobs stay in the country. My political interest is another story! Lets get onto these fabulous eye shadows!

My Verdict

  • These shadows are feather light and velvet smooth, give the eye shadows a soft tap into the cap to dispense a small amount of content. These can be applied with fingers or a brush, I personally prefer using a brush as the shadows are easily blendable.
  • As a subtle eye shadow wearer and lover, these are perfect, for a subtle look, apply a light sweep, the intensity can be built up with ease.
  • They are long lasting and did not crease on my lids without primer.
  • Matt Black is the only shade without shimmer and makes an amazing eyeliner. Simply dip your brush in a small amount of water before application. I am really impressed with the longevity of the eye shadows as an eyeliner, it did not crease, stray or fade. Pigmentation was excellent. I also enjoyed using the darker shades on my lower lashline.
  • I did not experience any irritations or reactions when using these products, my eyes are quite sensitive and would occasionally swell up or react to certain nasty ingredients. I felt safe using these knowing that it's 100% natural.  I would recommend these beautiful shadows to those with sensitive eyes.
  • Cognac is my favourite, a pretty copper colour, clear winner for me!
  • The only con that I've knit picked is the container/dispense method, it just means that I can't include these babies in my travel pack or touch up bag without the shadows coming out of the dispense holes. I am a relatively clumsy person who is always in a hurry, so I've only been using these on days where I have time to stand in front of the mirror and ensure that I don't knock them over or drop them. It would be incredible if these were pressed.. however I understand that the method will involve using rubbing alcohol.

Swatches and Looks

*Note* The swatch picture below is a one dip swatch, I dipped my finger into the eye shadow once (lightly) and swatched it on my arm. Sandstone is more of a greyish brown colour (see second eye look below).

Champagne used as a base, Cognac applied all over the lid and under lower lashline, Matt Black applied as an eyeliner (brush dipped in water).

Champagne used for inner corner. Sandstone applied all over the lid and under the lower lash line. A light sweep of Matt Black along upper lash line
